Forests for people, nature and climate: the Congo Basin is the world’s second‑largest tropical rainforest, a major carbon sink and a biodiversity hotspot, as well as the home of tens of millions of people and many Indigenous Peoples. This high‑level multi‑stakeholder dialogue brings together representatives from Central African countries, donor governments, regional organisations, civil society, the private sector and science. Participants will discuss why and how to accelerate implementation of the Belem Call to Action for Congo Basin Forests, strengthen regional coordination and raise the Congo Basin’s profile in global climate politics. The session will also highlight the upcoming co‑facilitation of the Congo Basin Forest Partnership by Germany and the Democratic Republic of the Congo and invite new partners to engage.
